FUENGIROLA:

Fuengirola boast more than seven kms of beautiful and well-kept golden sand, which is equipped with showers, sun-beds and shade, shops and many sporting activities; you can go sailing, windsurfing, jet skiing and even charter a fishing boat for the day. There are chiringuito's and a wealth of fish restaurants with local dishes freshly prepared using the catch of the day. Try the char-grilled sardine kebabs or spicy 'pil-pil' prawns. And for those who prefer a taste of home there are plenty of burger bars, pizza joints and English pubs with bangers-and-mash type food.

There are eight main beaches in Fuengirola that have been awarded the Blue Flag distinction, granted by the European Union, for the magnificent quality of its sea and its sand.

Its exceptional Paseo MarĂ­timo (seafront promenade) opens on to the sea like an enormous balcony.

There are 8 main beaches:

Fuengirola Beach Very central beach, 1000 m long and 30 m wide, with fine golden sand. Las Gaviotas beach. A small 650m long 40 meter wide beach in the center with fine but dark sand. This beach is suitable for the handicapped offering reserved parking.

Los Boliches Is about 1000 metres long and has an average width of about 40 metres. It has a high occupation ratio, located in an urban area with a promenade. Calm waves. It has a coastguard team, warning signs, a first aid hut, a rescue team and local police hut. Easy access both walking and by car, it has a parking lot and facilities for the disabled.

San Francisco Beach A small 700m long 30 meter wide central beach with fine but dark sand. This beach is ideal for families as it has very shallow water.

Santa Amalia Is about 1400 meters long and has an average width of about 20 meters. It's located in an urbanized area; it has quite a high occupation ratio and a promenade. Calm waves. It has a coastguard team, warning signs, a first aid hut, a rescue team and local police hut. Easy access both walking and by car, it has a parking lot and facilities for the disabled. Easy to reach by bus or by train. It has a tourist office, showers, public telephone, wastepaper bins, sunbeds, sunshades and pedal boats to hire, cleaning service, access lanes and a nautical club.

Torreblanca Beach This 750m long 30 meter wide beach is located further east of Fuengirola center. It has fine but dark sand, and is known for its beautiful views.

Carvajal Beach This is the longest beach in Fuengirola at 1200 m long and 20 m wide with fine but dark sand. There are a lot of chiringuitos at this beach which is known to have a youthful atmosphere.

Ejido-Castillo Beach This 800m long 50 meter wide beach is located one kilometer to the west of Fuengirola center. It has fine but dark sand and is known to be quieter than the other beaches in Fuengirola. Take the exit at the Sohail Castle off the A-7 highway.

TORREMOLINOS

Torremolinos has several kilometers of beaches in excellent condition, which can be enjoyed nearly all of the year. But there is more to Torremolinos than the sun and golden sand. The long promenade which has been recently modernized separates the town centre from the beaches. Most of the roads are now pedestrian-friendly, filled with souvenir shops and ice-cream parlors. Very picturesque and offering terrific views, the whole stretch is well worth a visit. There are many restaurants and Chiringuito's, sun bed and shade can be hired.

Throughout its six kilometers of coastline Torremolinos has 4 beaches which are from east to west: Bajondillo, La Carihuela, Playamar and Los Alamos. The beaches are all urban, long and wide with dark sand and many facilities for tourists.

El Bajondillo An urban beach with a high level of service, family atmosphere and very popular, 1,000 meters long and 40 meters wide. Nearby are shops and many restaurants and beach bars. The beach has disabled access, toilets, showers, access gateways, rental of beach umbrellas and hammocks, aquatic leisure activities and kiosks. It also has rescue equipment.

La Carihuela This is the longest beach of Torremolinos, 2,100 meters long and 40 meters wide. As Bajondillo, this is a beach with family atmosphere and very popular, along the promenade with shops and restaurants and beach bars. The beach has access for the disabled, as well as all other services of a popular city beach, including life-saving equipment, toilets, showers, access gateways, rental of beach umbrellas and hammocks, aquatic leisure activities and kiosks.

Playamar 1,000 meters long and 50 meters wide. Is an urban beach with a high occupancy as it is one of the most popular beaches of Torremolinos. The facilities available include toilets, showers, access gateways, rental of beach umbrellas and hammocks, aquatic leisure activities, kiosks, children play area, car park and access for handicapped.

Los Alamos 1,500 meters long and 60 meters wide. This is the beach furthest from the centre of Torremolinos . There is a good tourist infrastructure including showers, telephone, access gateways, rental of beach umbrellas and hammocks and kiosks. Due to the proximity of Malaga airport there is aircraft noise. It is a family beach with average occupancy.

BENALMADENA

Benalmadena enjoys 9 kilometers of attractive beaches with many water sport activities available as well as shade, sun beds, many restaurants and beach bars. It is situated between Fuengirola and Torremolinos and is divided in three main urban centres: Benalmadena Costa, Benalmadena Pueblo and Arroyo de la Miel. You can stroll down the attractive, modern promenade, which has a fine selection of shops and restaurants right along to the port and marina.

Santa Ana Beach has a length of 500 meters and an average width of 20 m. High grade of occupation in urban area and seafront promenade. It has a moderate swell. There are signs of danger, surveillance equipment, the red cross and rescue team. It is easily accessible on foot and by car or bus. Parking area. Disabled access. It has a tourist information office, toilets, showers, phone, bins, cleaning services, rental of umbrellas and hammocks.

Melilleros It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Benalmadena, especially by the curious sea inlet that is formed and which divides the beach into two zones. The large sand area is usually frequented by young people.

La Perla Very small beach located between two artificial breakwaters.

Las Yucas Small beach of sand and gravel.

Bil Bil Along with the beach at Arroyo de la Miel, it is a popular place along the sea promenade of Benalmadena.

Arroyo de la Miel Along with the Bil Bil beach, this is a popular area with a high level of services.

Arroyo Hondo Beach with large influx of people, next to Hotel Costa Azul.

Torremuelle Beach Narrow beach between the residential areas of Valdeconejos and La Hidalga.

La Morera A small beach that, despite having a considerable influx is the most quiet of the area, as it is a little bit away from the more urbanized areas.

Tajo de la Soga Small beach with a considerable influx and a high level of services.

CarvajalWell equipped beach, surrounded by high buildings. It has a high level of occupancy. The beach at Carvajal is an urban beach with excellent services, including yacht rental, hire of sun loungers and parasols. Ideal for a family day.

Malapesquera Malapesquera beach is one of the venues for the summer in Benalmadena. Besides the presence of up to four Beach bars, there are volleyball nets and goalposts to practice football on the beach. Its huge size makes it an ideal place to celebrate from children´s games to Jet Ski races. There are also showers and a large area for sun beds and umbrellas.

Fuente de la Salud Beach To the east of the town, bordering with Torremolinos and next to the Marina. Its name is rooted in a drinking water source to which are attributed healing properties. Initially it was a rocky beach and almost devoid of sand. After the construction of the existing Marina, the beach was formed.

Benalnatura As its name suggests, Benalnatura is a nudist beach, giving total freedom to all those who want to take a sun bath water without swimming trunks.
